Adults in the 21st century are facing an increasing number of personal, consumer, and public policy issues that require some basic scientific literacy.  Examples are vaccinations to control viral infections, global warming, stem cell research, biological control of pests, and genetically engineered crops.  But recent surveys show that 2 out of 3 adults in the United States lack the basic understanding of science and technology needed to make sound judgments.  And the situation is worse with U.S. high school students.  AG 494 Agricultural Biotechnology seeks to provide science educators with the curriculum and tools to teach middle- or high-school students about Agricultural Biotechnology.
